Writing, Editing & Support Services
Welcome! We partner with coaches and other entrepreneurs who are much better at what they do than they are at writing about it. We translate your passion and vision into captivating content that engages your audience, reinforces your expertise and gets found on the Internet.
Why You? Why Me?
You can’t escape writing. Whether for work, for school, or for posting your latest rant about the inefficiencies of some government agency, writing is a necessity. You write because you have to, but nobody is gonna make you enjoy it, darn it! You’d rather do algebra.
How do you spell “rhythm” again? Is it who or whom? Their? They’re? There? When on Earth do you use a semicolon? And why do you even want to?!
Look, the world won’t admit it and advertising agencies will never abide by it, but grammar, punctuation, and spelling still matter. Even your smartphone, with its annoying auto corrections, knows this truth. You don’t have to remember all the rules of the English language, nor do you have to enjoy the mechanics of writing, but you do need to communicate effectively if you want a book that sells, if you want to attract quality customers, i if you want a good grade, f you want that job, or even if you want to make the powers that be sit up and take notice.
So, purge that jumble of thoughts onto the closest piece of paper or laptop, then let someone who loves the architecture of the language and who can tell you what a gerund is add a little polish to your masterpiece.
My name is Monica Dennis and I am the founder of On-Call Editing, an editorial agency dedicated to moving you from plan to publication. I have been editing for over 25 years. While a stint as the editor of my college newspaper opened a door to the world of journalism, it was a brush with an
aspiring copy editor during a post-college internship that sparked an unexpected interest that turned into a love of the craft of editing. I found it was a natural skill that I honed over the years on the copy desk of a major newspaper, the editorial department of a direct marketing firm, and eventually as the managing editor with two health information and education organizations. I have worked in a variety of media from digital to print, always working intimately with sales, marketing, technology, and design to get the job done. Now, my team and I are here to partner with you.
I love what I do. I enjoy helping new writers to navigate the mysterious world of publishing. I get satisfaction from helping busy writers to make sure their message is on point. And if the desire to write is there, but the steps to do so are still a blur, then let’s team up to bring your vision into focus through my hands-on coaching service.
Sure, you could ask your neighbor or best friend who is a teacher to read your work, but if your book, article, or other written work is meant to grab the reader’s attention to effect change, launch a mission, or simply sell you or your product, then don’t you want to work with people who live and breathe this industry?
Whether you need a proofreader, an editor, a writer, someone to format your book, or even to hold your hand through the arduous adventures of an apathetic author, we are here to listen to your needs and help you look good in writing. And you won’t have to do algebra either.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“Monica Dennis is hands-down the finest editor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. In our little circle of writers, she is known as hawk-eye, because if there is even the slightest inconsistency (or pretty obvious boo-boo) in the text, she WILL find it, straighten it out, and top things off with linguistic icing nobody saw coming. I love working with her, because her brain never leads down the beaten track, there is always a surprise up her sleeve, and if you are looking for a creative genius, look no further, she is right here.
