Olly Olly Oxen Freelancers!
When I first had the thought to turn my freelancing into a full business, I thought about me, myself, and I helping people in a variety of editorial ways. When I connected with the Coach Ya Damn Self group last November and we started talking about growing businesses beyond ourselves, and when I really started to think about what that might mean and when I talking about all this with my life coach too, I got to thinking about the OTHER people I enjoy helping, also newbies but in the editorial industry. Suddenly I remembered how much I enjoyed working with the interns at my previous job and I reminded myself of one of my stay-at-home mom friends from two jobs ago and how I had thought of asking her if she wanted to help if I ever found myself in need of extra hands.
Well, it seems it's time for me to seriously start thinking of those extra hands. I didn't expect it at this stage of the game, but people need help -- people with content to edit AND people with editing skills that need honing or those who just to get back out there. Maybe even those just looking for a change. While I am specifically looking for someone with some food expertise, I am open to connecting with people of all sorts of specialties because you just never know, right? So let's get to know each other and see if we can play on the same team.
It's never easy really nailing down the right personality fit, but I know it when I meet it. For now, here's a starter when it comes to what I'm looking for to add to the select people who are already a part of On-Call Editing either directly as a freelancer with us or as a partner, helping to offer the services my clients need. It's all about serving, baby. If you like the sound of that, then take a look and feel free to share!
